Bob Elliot and Ray Goulding

Somewhere between Bob Hope and Howard Stern, there was Bob Elliot and Ray Goulding. To describe their humor is akin to describing a haircut in a phone conversation- you just have to experience it for yourself. From 1946 until 1992, this duo displayed a different kind of funny that greatly made fans out of Carl Reiner, Bob Newhart, Norman Lear, Stan Freberg, Kurt Vonnegut and David Letterman.

This and next week, you’ll hear two hours of some of the best sketches from their storied career.

Go to bobandray.com for more! The entire show is aired Saturday mornings from 10am-12 USET on Oldies 100, found through TuneIn.com as well as the TuneIn app.

Hour 1 is available for your listening and intellectual pleasure.

Bob Elliot and Ray Goulding

Bob Elliott and Ray Goulding were the thinking man’s radio stars. Whereas comedy teams before had a straight man and a buffoon, Bob and Ray gladly traded places, creating characters out of thin air and making it all seem like it was rehearsed- far from it!

We take a listen to this magnificent comedy team that has influenced the likes of Johnny Carson, David Letterman, Jay Leno, George Carlin, Al Franken, Garrison Keillor and Kurt Vonnegut, who wrote:

“Their jokes turn out to be universal…because much of life presents itself as the same dilemma: how to seem lusty and purposeful when less than nothing is going on.”
